For so many of us with Asthma normal breathing may be characterized as breathing with some degree of struggle. However, breathing normally doesn’t require struggling. Our respiratory rate should be ‘generally’ between 12-120 breaths per minute.
Breathing in an Non Asthmatic state should feel relaxed and you won’t need to think about it.
Asthma changes normal breathing ad airways inflame, tighten and become more mucus filled, causing the muscles around the lungs to tighten and making it very hard to breathe.
That’s why it’s important to take notice of ANY changes in breathing, even if they are mild because it can be an indication of an impending asthma attack.

It’s also important to teach children how to recognize the differences in their breathing so they can be prepared to take immediate action instead of just pushing through if necessary.
Normal breathing should be a No Brainer, it’s what we experience on non asthma flare days.
So if you are having more asthma flares than your normal, see your doctor for an updated regime in treatments for better breathing all around!☺️
