Beauty For Mankind, or Beautiful in Christ?...

You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.

~Song of Solomon 4:7

If only we could see ourselves this way, the way that Christ sees us. If only we could find joy in reaching deep within and adorning ourselves with our Christ likeness and allow that to shine in the satisfaction that we are living to please our Father…not mankind.

So God created man in his (own)image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.~Genesis 1:27

These two stones both created for our Lord’s pleasure, both like the other but different in many ways, and each one beautiful as they are created to be, just as we are.

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. ~Psalms 50:2

There is no end to our Lord’s creative palette. A God who can create such exquisite and varied beauty makes NO mistakes and that includes with us. We spend so much time trying on different personas, clothes, hair, makeup, careers etc…, many times even unbeknownst to ourselves to fit into a category we believe we should be in to be accepted, respected, admired, validated and in the end loved.

How many of us fail to feel a certain way because we don’t measure up to the standards set by the world; but those measurements are based on superficial desires of man, not on what’s real and true and valued by God. I know many who read this may be thinking ‘that’s easier said than lived’ because I’m in the ‘todays’ world. However God is timeless and His word is for all seasons, all times.

You can continue to waste precious time chasing vapid illusions of this world and it’s misguided standards; or you can realize that who you are in HIM is absolutely enough.

One of the grand illusions (I fell for too in the past) is that we all need to acquire ‘self’-esteem, emphasis placed on the self instead of where it belongs on our Lord God. All that we are is from Him, not ourselves and it’s this twisted belief that captures so many without really actually getting to the core of the problem. We Are ok, we Always Were. We just fell for the world’s snake oil. It’s only when we spend time in the word, time with God that he shows us, helps us lift the veil so that we can see, think and believe clearly that we are Whole and Valued. When we wear the cloak of humility, when we walk with a meek and quiet spirit, our authentic beauty reflects outwardly.

Your Value doesn't decrease based on someone's inability to see your Worth!

Whose adorning let it not be that outward (adorning) of plaiting of the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But (let it be) the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, (even the ornament) of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

~1Peter 3:3-4

You can make a choice to let go of society’s unrealistic, unattainable beauty ideals and walk in the light of God’s knowledge and that his word he created for us for grow and shine in him and for him, or you can continue to fall the far reaching worldly standards of being ‘in the world’ and chasing an unattainable dream that ends in continual discontent. It is my hope for you to let go by turning away and looking up to HIM….
