Getting Better Sleep!

November 15, 2017

[Are you tired, listless, even a little cranky from lack of sleep? ( Like this cutie! ].

The way we sleep is just as important as getting to sleep and this includes the type of mattress we're using.  Like me, (LOL) so many of us are sleeping on outdated old lumpy, bumpy and lopsided mattresses!  In the tips below a detailed explanation is provided as to the importance of having a proper mattress to get a good deep sleep for our health.

Things To Consider When Choosing A New Mattress

Getting a good night’s sleep isn’t just a luxury — it’s essential for our overall health and well-being. Without a good night’s sleep, we run the risk of developing more serious health issues such as heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. That’s not even mentioning the general feeling of fatigue & grumpiness that comes with not getting enough sleep. More than one-third of all adults in the United States report not getting the required seven to nine hours of sleep we need each night. There are many reasons why we might not be getting enough sleep, including too much time spent on technology! LOL Yet one of the simplest reasons may be that we’re sleeping on the wrong type of mattress.

As the literal foundation for a good night’s sleep, there are few factors as important for getting enough sleep than a good mattress. However, what might be right for you may not be right for everyone. Because no one mattress fits everyone’s sleep preferences, it’s important to understand what to look for when choosing a new mattress. Although it may be tempting to look for the mattress that has the most bells and whistles or the latest technology, understanding your unique needs and preferences for a good night’s sleep is more important than spending a lot of money.

For example, people who tend to sleep on their backs don’t require as much support as people who sleep on their stomachs, meaning they can choose a mattress based on their comfort preferences. People who sleep on their stomachs, on the other hand, should choose a firmer mattress to provide more back support during the night to prevent aches and pains when they wake up in the morning. People who sleep on their sides should lean toward softer mattresses that prevent numbness caused by their weight being concentrated in one spot. It’s also important to consider whether or not you have allergies, or prefer a cooler sleeping environment.

The following guide from Conn's HomePlus, presents several tips to keep in mind the next time you have to buy a mattress.  Follow them, and you’re more likely to get the sleep you need.
